Ever since I first saw Amy Wenzel’s photography, she became one of my most favorite photographers! Her work is so fun and vibrant. When I saw last Spring that she was going to be doing workshops I was so excited! Then the reality that I couldn’t quite swing the $1500 set in! I decided that I would just pray that I would someday have an opportunity to learn from her. Well, imagine my excitement when I saw that Amy and Iheartfaces were doing a workshop giveaway! Here is my chance! Thanks so much Amy for the opportunity! My entry on how I inspire others:
It took me awhile to think of how I inspire others. I am so inspired by so many other people and things that it was hard to think of myself as inspiring! My photography journey started when my 2 year old son was diagnosed with a rare aggressive childhood cancer. I was working as a wedding videographer and had to shut down that business to take care of him and get him through his year long treatment. As I was spending lots of time with him I started taking still shots of him with my video camera. I realized how precious every photo was and how fun it was to capture all of the things that he did. After his treatment was over I decided that instead of doing wedding videos, my new passion was taking photos of children. That is when I bought my first DLSR camera and started building my portfolio. It has been almost 6 years since my son’s diagnosis and he is doing great! I still love to photograph him and his brother too! I feel that I can give back to others and inspire others by capturing moments in their lives that they will be able to remember forever. The way their baby sucks on her own toes, or their toddler giggles, little girls twirling and dancing, families laughing and playing together. Moments that cannot be done over, but are forever stopped in time, thanks to photography! I feel that this workshop would be such a great learning experience for me. Amy’s images of children are so fun and playful and I would just LOVE to learn from her!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I just wanted to share some of the photos from the Christmas Mini Sessions that I did in the studio. I had so much fun with these. Especially being able to give a few of them their very first sticky, messy, lollipop! That sure helped to get some priceless expressions! Next up at the studio are Valentine Angel sessions. These sessions will be held on January 16th in my new studio in downtown Davisburg and are perfect for girls ages 6 months to 6 years. Please call me if you would like to book an appointment 810-695-9826.
